Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 July 2026
Bite (“we”, “our”, “us”) is operated by Bite AI Ltd. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Bite mobile application (“the App”).
1. Information We Collect
Account Information: When you sign in with Apple, Google, or email, we receive your email address and a unique user identifier. If you sign in with email, your password is securely hashed by our authentication provider and is never stored in plaintext.
Usage Data: We collect information about how you use the App, including summaries created, features accessed, and subscription tier. This helps us improve the App and enforce usage limits.
Purchase Information: Subscription purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive confirmation of your subscription status through RevenueCat, our subscription management partner. We do not have access to your payment card details.
Content You Create: Summaries you generate are stored on our servers. If you choose to publish a summary to the Community Library, it becomes visible to other users.
AI Chat Data: When you use the AI Chat feature, your messages are sent to our server for processing but are not permanently stored on our servers. Chat history is stored locally on your device and is deleted if you reinstall the App.
Push Notification Tokens:If you enable push notifications, we store your device's push token to deliver notifications such as summary completion alerts and refresher card reminders. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
Crash and Diagnostic Data:We collect crash reports and performance data through Sentry and Firebase to improve the App's stability. This data is anonymous and cannot be used to identify you personally.
Analytics Data: We use PostHog and Firebase to collect anonymous usage analytics such as features accessed, screens viewed, and conversion events. This data helps us improve the App. We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA) or track you across other apps or websites.
Information Stored on Your Device:Bite, and third-party service providers acting on our behalf (such as our analytics, crash-reporting, and subscription providers), store, access, and collect information directly and indirectly on or from your device — including by placing, accessing, or recognising cookies, local storage, device identifiers, and similar technologies on your device or browser. We use this to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, cache content for performance, and measure app performance and usage.

8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
9. YouTube API Services
Bite uses the YouTube API Services in two ways: (1) to let you search for and view public information about YouTube videos and channels so you can choose what to summarise, and (2) to optionally follow your YouTube subscriptions and import your liked videos and playlists. By using these features, you are also bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.
Search and public video data:When you search for videos or channels, or paste a video link, we use the YouTube Data API v3 (search, videos, channels, and playlistItems endpoints) to retrieve public information such as titles, thumbnails, durations, view counts, subscriber counts, and recent uploads. This uses Bite's own API key and accesses only public YouTube data, not your private account data. We always link back to the original video and channel on YouTube.
What data is accessed (YouTube import): When you connect your Google account for YouTube import, we access your subscriptions, liked videos, and playlists via the YouTube Data API v3. This requires the youtube.readonly OAuth scope.
How it is used: We use your subscriptions to follow those channels inside Bite, and your liked videos and playlists to show videos you can select and summarise. It is not used for any other purpose.
Data retention: Your private YouTube account data (subscriptions, liked videos, and playlists) is fetched in real time when you use the import feature and is not persisted on our servers beyond your active session. Public video and channel metadata retrieved via the YouTube Data API (such as titles, thumbnails, durations, and view counts) is cached transiently to improve performance and is refreshed or deleted within 30 days, in line with the YouTube API Services Terms.
Revoking access: You can revoke Bite's access to your Google account at any time by visiting Google Account Permissions.
Google Privacy Policy: Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
